It’s becoming increasingly evident that Donald Trump has not forgiven America for his defeat in the 2020 election. It truly is the only logical explanation for all the destructive plans he is laying out for his upcoming administration. Let’s take a look at some of the core national issues. Because that’s fun.
The economy: Trump’s grand plan is the tearing up of existing trade deals and imposing punitive tariffs on every other nation, be they ally or adversary. But the only ones that will be punished by such an inflationary move are American consumers. And he’s already admitted what most people knew in the first place — you cannot just walk into office and start reversing inflation. That’s not how grocery prices nor any other prices work.
The government: Under the stated guise of making government more streamlined and efficient, Trump’s plan is to actually dismantle the government that has served us for 250 years, doing away with whole departments and cutting staffing and funding for others. The main focus will be on those departments that write financial, health, and safety rules and regulations. Who will benefit? A relative handful of the already wealthy. Who will suffer? All other Americans, especially those who are in need government services.
Healthcare: This will surprise no one. There will be no relief from the exorbitantly overpriced healthcare system run by private insurance companies. Worse, we’ll be under advisement of a fringe-thinking lawyer (RFK Jr.) instead of a doctor to head the Department of Health and Human Services. But simply being an anti-vaxxer isn’t what makes Kennedy a problem — he vehemently opposes many other proven medical treatments. There were 77 Nobel Prize winners who signed a letter outlining how dangerous Kennedy’s ideas are. Who would suffer? All American citizens, especially the young who need the crucial vaccines against such things as measles and polio (two diseases most of us stopped worrying about, because we were vaccinated as kids, and they almost went extinct).
International Relations: As mentioned above, Trump’s ridiculous tariff plans include our allies. But it’s worse than just the economic implications. Despite MAGA’s narrative, Donald us quite disrespected by most of the free world and their leaders. Simply put, Donald Trump sucks up to our adversaries such as Putin of Russia, Xi Jinping of China, Kim Jong Un of North Korea, Viktor Orban of Hungary, and MBS of Saudi Arabia. It’d be hard pressed to find any American who’d be fond of that list on either side of the aisle. Meanwhile, he alienates our longtime allies such as NATO, the Paris Climate Agreement, and the Trans-Pacific Partnership members. His latest imperial designs on Canada, Greenland, and Panama would make the United States a pariah of a nation.
Project 2025: No matter how much you believe Trump knew about this (he did), this proposition was written by his staunch supporters — mainly, The Heritage Foundation. And it veritably lays waste too the Constitution. There’s no need to get to far into this, but it’s hard to understand why anyone would be in favor of turning the United States into an autocracy. Which is exactly what the document lays out for the next four years. Even those who who voted for Trump are not a fan of this sort of policy if they’re at all familiar with this initiative.
His health: Many doctors and experts have assessed that Donald is mentally declining, much in the same way Joe Biden did during his presidency. Four more years of that trend doesn’t bode well for his competency as leader of the free world.
Overall, it appears Mr. Trump has no interest in “America First,” but is rather determined to make “America Worst” a reality. The country humiliated him once by tossing him out and replacing him with an aging Joe Biden. Trump doesn’t forgive and forget. Because he was ousted, he had to suffer the further humiliation of actually being investigated, indicted, and convicted of crimes. He was taken into custody and treated like any other criminal. He obviously is very bitter about this fact. The American people will now have four years of an unhinged and vengeful man with his finger close to way too many buttons. It is the fault of the electorate — because when it came to Donald Trump, we were the ones who forgave and forgot.
